Online Video Learning

The following list of videos can be used by individuals or groups for personal learning or for Catechist Certification Credit.  To learn more about  Catechist Certification Credits, including registering with a concentration in Catechetical Ministry with the Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute, visit our Catechist Certification page.

Be sure to read the Requirements for Catechetical Ministry to learn about restrictions with online learning and individual learning for credit. * (Due to Covid-19 we have lifted these restrictions.  Until further notice you may take as many online and individual learning credits as you wish.)

CATECHIST CERTIFICATION CREDIT
To receive Catechist Certification Credits, a person must complete the following steps:

  1.  Watch the video. (Note: some courses are in two parts and both parts must be watched to receive credit).
  2. Contact Elo Rowan, 502-636-0296, Ext. 1236 for any additional reading or assignments required. See Assignment information sheet under each course description.
  3. Write a one-to-two page reflection paper to summarize what you have learned. Papers should be prepared in 12-point font, Times new Roman, double-spaced, with 1 inch margins on all four sides.
  4. Submit your paper to Office of Faith Formation by email or mail to:

  5. After paper has been reviewed, and credits are granted you will receive an invoice in the amount of $10 per course. Payment along with a copy of the invoice should be mailed to:

*(Coursework may be taken through the Archdiocese of Louisville Ministry Institute (ALMI), media options, online courses, or other pre-approved offerings.  No more than 5 hours may be taken either online or as a media option for the completion of the Associate Level.   For the total required coursework no more than 20 percent (40 hours)  may be completed on an individual basis; the remaining requirements must be fulfilled through live, gathered offerings and interactive online options.)

These presentations are a brief overview of the historical development of liturgy, the basic principles of celebrating liturgy and the introduction/concluding Rites of the Mass.

An exploration into both the personal and communal images of God and how those images impact our sense of community and ministry.

Introduction to Prayer
This study of the diverse forms of individual and communal prayer and identification of one’s own preferred style of prayer.

This presentation is an appreciation of diverse expressions of both personal and communal spirituality and the exploration of the activities of the Spirit of the Church and in the world.

Introduction to the Sacraments: Part 1 and Part 2
(You must watch both parts to receive credit)
These presentations explore the meaning of the sacraments, the role they have in the Church, and the principles of liturgical celebration of the sacraments.

These presentations are a survey of the primary themes of Scripture and how they are relevant in our lives today.

Overview of the Mass: Part 1 and Part 2
(You must watch both parts to receive credit)
These presentations focus on the Mass, the “source and summit” of all the Church’s activity, as well as, the meaning and purpose of the primary elements of the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

Theology of the Church: Part 1 and Part 2

These presentations explore the meaning and mission of the Church and the role Baptism has with it.
