Sponsors play a crucial role in the initiation process and deserve to be well-prepared for their ministry.  In this training, sponsors will be offered the opportunity to see what the parish is asking of them and allow them to explore the various ways in which they can help catechumens and candidates to grow closer to Christ in the Catholic community.  Common question and concerns will also be addressed and examined in light of The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.

This class will examine the historical development of the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist as they are celebrated in the catechumenate process.  The influences that led to their separation into individual sacraments will be explored and practical implications for current catechetical practice will be discussed.
