TUESDAY, JANUARY 19 2:00 (EST)
Due to the pandemic, several bishops have delegated pastors to celebrate the rite within parishes. In an effort to help parish priests and staffs, the Federation of Diocesan Liturgical Commissions will offer a webinar on the Rite of Election – its history, its structure, and best practices for its celebration. Please visit www.fdlc.org/formation to register.
| The pandemic has disrupted everything in our lives, including the celebration of liturgy. While vaccine trials look hopeful, we don’t yet know if we will be able to gather safely in large numbers in time for the Rite of Election in 2021 (February 17). What will this mean for our catechumens and their path to initiation? TeamRCIA will be discussing a “Plan B” for celebrating this crucial rite (and the optional Rite of Sending) if we are still under pandemic restrictions. They will talk about practical strategies for celebrating powerful, transformative liturgy while still staying safe. And while it’s important to have a backup plan, let’s pray we won’t have to use it. |

The Church’s mission for evangelization demands we pay attention to the ways in which Catholic faith and identity is embodied in culture. What is culture? What attitudes and skills do pastoral ministers need for engaging with different cultures?
How can these competencies advance the conversion of individuals and cultures? This workshop will address these questions while encouraging participants to reflect and draw on their own experiences of culture and intercultural relations.

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven” declares Ecclesiastes. The Church marks time by her prayer that comprises the liturgical year: celebrations of feasts and fasts, the numbered stretches of Sundays, and commemorating the saints. The start of the new liturgical year is a great opportunity to reflect on the prayer of the Church and the ways in which we can pray with the Church in our homes.
Rethinking Parish Religious Education with the New Directory and Distance Learning
Presented by Deacon Matthew Halbach, PhD, and Andrea D. Chavez-Kopp
November 4th, 2020 6 p.m. EST
The new Directory for Catechesis comes when the whole world is in flux. Considering what’s happening in our world, many parish catechetical programs are going back to the drawing board with the challenge of delivering programs that serve children and families and engage their faith communities going forward.
In this webinar, Deacon Matt Halbach, PhD, Executive Director of Catechesis for William H. Sadlier, and Andrea D. Chavez-Kopp, Chief Learning Officer for The Procedo Project, help you think through what all this means as they discuss:

Join Nazareth Retreat Center and Rev. Knott for a virtual, Zoom retreat during the first weekend of Advent. Over four sessions, Fr. Knott will lead prayer, provide short reflections inspired by the Book of Exodus on how to accept and manage change, and facilitate lively discussion. This will be a great opportunity for anyone that has ever struggled with change, like those that have occurred as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, or those who are looking for a way to have a fruitful Advent season during a time when observing it as usual may not be possible. This retreat will be limited to a 25 person maximum to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate in discussions.
